Local Hazards

Crocodile Management

  • Traps: There are two saltwater crocodile traps (one Body Corporate, one Resort).
  • Sightings: If a saltwater crocodile is sighted, inform a committee member immediately (Resort is currently closed).
  • Freshwater Crocodiles: Present in the lake, especially during the wet season.

Water Safety

  • Vessels: Ensure guests have safe water vessels.
  • Life Jackets: Pontoon boats and tinnies must have Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and required safety equipment for Internal Waters.

Natural Disasters

Bushfire Safety

  • Lake Bennett is in a bushfire-prone area.
  • Ensure you have a Bushfire Survival Plan.
  • Monitor "SecureNT" and "PFES" websites.

Cyclone Safety

  • Cyclone season: November - April.
  • Secure loose items around your property.
  • Know your nearest cyclone shelter.
